Quick Stay at the Embassy Suites, Greenville SC

With football season upon us, I am traveling frequently on weekend trips around the South East.  As I discussed in my previous blog post, my brother is a kicker at Furman University so I am going to as many games as I can this year.  I am such a good sister! 🙂 Furman is located in Greenville, South Carolina so any chance I get to visit this fabulous city is fine by me!

After Furman’s win over North Carolina A&T, my family got together at my aunt and uncle’s RV for a cookout.  I have so many thoughts on RVs which I will discuss in a future blog post, but for now let me say it was a perfect ending to the day.  After the sun went down the temperature definitely settled down to a very pleasant evening.  Early fall football games in the South can be brutal temperature wise, and I find myself dreaming of the cute fashions of those crisp, breezy, cooler temps.  Until then you can find me melting in the heat.

My family decided to spend the night at the Embassy Suites in downtown Greenville.  I love Embassy Suites for a couple reasons in particular.  One, since they are suites they have more room to spread out.  Um, no kidding.  But seriously having space to maneuver my mobility scooter is a big deal for me.  Whenever hotels offer space for me to do more than a 3 point turn I take note.  Since I was only spending one night there, we reserved an accessible room with a tub.  However, when I need to use the shower I make sure to request a roll-in shower.

While not outrageously priced, it is priced higher because of location.  While this can’t be classified a budget hotel, there are some noteworthy perks.  The other thing I always enjoy about staying at an Embassy Suites is the complementary breakfast.  Free food is a guaranteed way to my heart!  With made to order omelettes and other hot dishes, it has more than just continental offerings. Also, this particular Embassy Suites has a roof top bar which I did not have the opportunity to check out.  I can assure you, next time! 🙂

After breakfast, we went to mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  This is a beautiful, traditional church.  The kind that uses so much incense you not only feel the Holy Spirit after mass, but you smell like you’ve been in church.  I love it.  Before heading home we stopped at Sully Steamers.  This counter service restaurant serves steamed bagel sandwiches, and I love getting ham and swiss on a plain bagel. And that completed my overnight trip to Greenville! Quick but fun and perfectly accessible.  I’m going to switch it up next time and talk Disney!  So be sure to check back next week.
